He has become part of this country's musical backbone playing first as a drummer, then as a singer with many of the countries top rock and roll outfits. In 1978 he released his first album "Into The Night" with WEA Records. Swanee's first major chart success was a great rendition of Tim Hardin's "If I Were A Carpenter" from the album "This Time It's Different".
Success with the next 2 singles from the album immediately followed. "Lady What's Your Name" and "Temporary Heartache" both screamed straight up the charts. Swanee played all over the country, winning new fans wherever he went. He built a reputation as one of the best and most respected rock'n'roll singers in the country. "Live In The Snow" was recorded for all his fans who constantly requested songs that Swanee performed but hadn't recorded. Michael Horsphol is a music genius and nothing short of rapidly becoming one of Australia's greatest soundscape audio painters. He works with sound the same way that Davinci worked with his pen. Composing music runs in his blood. He sites influences of Howard Shore with His outstanding modern classical giant,"Lord of the Rings" trilogy and Rautavaara a Finnish contemporary classical composer.
He was fortunate to be born into a family where music formed as much a part of my childhood as food and play did. Being immersed in the music of the great classical composers led me to begin learning the piano at an early age, studying traditional piano techniques to obtain performance and teaching diplomas from Trinity College and, later, an honours diploma in composition from the Academy of Musicology (Qld.). His main love has always been composition.
A prolific writer and one that has an abundance of musical depth and talent to arrange, produce and deliver a truly unique musical cinematic experience.
