Henry Turner Jr & Flavour completely flat out in 2017
17 Feb 2017

Leading light of local Louisiana Henry Turner, Jr, with long-time collaborating band Flavor, seems like red-hot go-to for live performances at major events in Baton Rouge. Performing regularly through February and April at the 2017 Baton Rouge Mardi Gras Festival, 2017 Baton Rouge Blues Festival and at live music venue/restaurant Poor Boy Lloyd’s, you have to wonder if the sonorous baritone and his band have set any time aside for a bathroom break.

Henry Turner Jr, & Flavor have been active since their origin in the 90’s, touring across the U.S., Japan and Canada with a style that blends every ingredient you could ask for: blues, soul, funk and Louisiana reggae – and is probably the name most associated with the latter musical subgenre, a beat-displacing style that’s technical and modern.

They will be playing the Baton Rouge Mardi Gras VIP pre-party fundraiser on Thursday, 23rd Feb at Henry Turner, Jr’s Listening Room from 6pm til Midnight with Uncle Chess, George Walker, Normal Bean with Oregon’s Merry Prankster’s and other special guests to be announced (see the event links for details. They will also be performing at the Festival proper on Saturday, 25th Feb, in the midst of an exciting event schedule (which begins today on the 17th Feb), held from 10am-6pm at North Boulevard Town Square.

If you won’t be at the event-packed Louisiana Mardi Gra (or more likely, you need more Henry Turner Jr & Flavour) then you’re in luck. Henry Turner Jr & Flavour will be performing at the 2017 Baton Rouge Blues Festival alongside an absolutely delectable line-up of diverse and iconic talent such as The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Alabaster Stag, Marc Broussard, Henry Gray, Ana Popović, James ‘Chicken Scratch’ Johnson, Erica Falls…just to name a few. The Blues Festival is scheduled for the 8-9th of April.

If you haven’t yet been privy to Henry et al’s fantastic and characterful live shows, the perfect place to get acquainted is here in this once-in-a-lifetime line up. Between and during these festivals, Henry Turner, Jr & Flavor play regularly at venues such Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room and Poor Boy Lloyds, so head on over to the official website using the links below to get more details on events, tickets and performance dates.
