Star Assassin are a four-piece alternative rock band from Melbourne/Albury, influenced by the Canadian and United States music scenes. Fans have coined the bands brand of music uniquely as ‘chemical rock’. The Summer of 2007 finished up a long string of live touring between Newcastle and Geelong including festivals like ‘Goovin The Moo’ and ‘Dusty Days’, the band also filmed the music video for their first single titled ‘Hey Kid’. They spent Autumn in the studio recording before touring Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and playing more festivals. Spring 2007 saw them head back into the studio to put the finishing touches on their debut album ‘Bleeding To The Circle’, they also began preparing their debut single ‘Hey Kid’ which will be released nationwide July 2008.
The Star Assassin boys have been promoting ‘Hey Kid’ with a Winter 08 tour which kicked off in Geelong on June 13 and includes dates in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Bendigo, Albury, Traralgon, Wagga, Deniliquin and more. Star Assassin will also headline the Crave Festival and other special music events in amongst a bunch of television and radio appearances. ‘Hey Kid’ is the first single to be lifted from the bands forthcoming debut album ‘Bleeding To The Circle’, it features an addictive hooky rock tune, teamed with one of the fastest paced music videos to ever be produced.
From a band whose members used to take toilet breaks in the middle of live shows, climb on top of pool tables while performing, and were told to wait outside venues until they hit the stage because they were underage comes rocks newest superstars. With more than 500 live shows under their belts, 5000 copies of their EP snatched up and the award for the ‘Best Unsigned Rock Act’ at Sydney’s Music Oz Awards back in 2005, Star Assassin are more serious than anyone to prove that they’re here to stay and rock the world at the same time.
Star Assassin have already converted a large following of fans with their catchy brand of rock that has been performed live to tens of thousands, the bands official myspace website is a reflection of this with comments like: “You guys are my favourite band of all time! I can’t wait to get tickets to all your Sydney shows!”, “I heard your new single Hey Kid on the Blunt Magazine compilation cd it’s soooo mad luv u guys!”, When are you guys coming to the states all my friends love you guys. ps. Their stage performance is no disappointment either, delivering seven solid years of the astounding talents they have been mastering since they were fifteen years old. Quite simply, this is a band who know how to play, know how to write and know how to entertain with excellence. Make certain you see them live if you have the opportunity, otherwise make sure you get your hands on a copy of this year’s hottest rock record, Star Assassin’s forthcoming debut album ‘Bleeding to The Circle’.
