It hasn’t been long since Lokust Luciano and DL Down3r released Coping Mechanism, a frank introspective piece, which gave us all candid insight into what Lokust and Down3r have gone through. Thankfully, the song is seeing success, and Lokust’s streaming numbers are up in general across the board! The radio team have been working hard on his catalogue, especially on Coping Mechanism lately, and that’s apparent to see given that the track has over 10 thousand plays after it was released not long ago. And that’s just on Spotify alone!

Fans of the self-named “Crippled Kingpin” will be very happy to know that Coping Mechanism in particular is seeing success all over the world via global radio efforts! Here’s the breakdown.

Coping Mechanism is the most popular track in Lokust’s catalogue, with 21 stations that downloaded it across 16 different countries. Of those 21 unique stations, all 21 of them decided to play the track! Just imagine that – they gave it a try, and it cleared the bar for every single one of them. Not one of the stations who downloaded this banger rejected it! That’s incredibly good news and a really good sign for things to come. This track is most popular in Australia, Italy and Spain, and has seen an estimated playcount of 42. Just think of how many hundreds of people that would have reached – 42 plays on the radio is a LOT of different listeners that this song is making its way to! This is brilliant going into 2023, and makes us optimistic for stuff to come. It’s amazing news for Lokust, as well as for Down3r who featured on the track… and who had his own radio milestone just recently too!

The song’s format manifests as Lokust telling the listener about his struggles with drug abuse, and the excuses he gives himself and others in order to continue using drugs as a crutch. Then DL comes in, and effectively sits Lokust down to have a serious conversation about the dark path he’s going down, from one friend to another, from one victim of drug abuse to another. The message of the song is clear: the problems that can be found in life are worth facing directly, when the alternative is avoiding them via drug abuse. Avoiding one’s problems through drug abuse is far worse than just facing them. It simply adds to the problems you’ll have to eventually work through or die trying, once the illusion is broken and it all comes crashing down. DL is known for songs like this, so it’s great to see Lokust teaming up and pitching in for this one too.

Lokust Luciano was born William Arciszewski on June 21st, 1988 as a premature baby, and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He grew up in North Fort Myers and began writing poetry at the tender age of 9 years old. He has been active in multiple facets of the Hip-Hop scene since 1998. He moved to Florida for leg surgery when he was very young, as the medical world at the time (1988) didn’t have a solid understanding of Cerebral Palsy yet, so he had to seek out an expert specialist. Orlando was the only place he could go for it, and he came out on the other side grinning. He is well known in the underground music scene for his production talent and lyrical delivery. He is also sometimes known by the handle “Crippled Kingpin”.

The adversities he has overcome are now a part of his personal aesthetic, showing his strength and sturdy sense of humour. His creative drive is unstoppable, and we’re sure you’ll agree when you see some of the hits from his catalogue that have been turning heads his way!
