Meet Solène Getenet!
11 Jun 2019

Yet another Pianist in our roster, and yet another Pianist’s time to shine! She’s an expert in her field and her music is certain to evoke an emotional symphony within you. The piano is one of the most heartfelt instruments to play, when done so with skill and intent, and Solène is the perfect artist to fill that niche!

Solène Getenet was born near Paris in 1984. She started playing the piano and the violoncello at the age of four, and this wealth of experience shines through in the mastery that is her work.

She first was the pupil of Lucette Descaves, one of the most famous French pedagogues, then of Marie-Paule Siruguet ( Boulogne-Billancourt National Music Academy) and Hubert Guillard . Now she is studying with Cyril Huvé, Nicholas Angelich and Paul Badura-Skoda.

In 1995, Solène began her career as a concert pianist. She performed in two concerts with the orchestra in Versailles and Paris (Cortot Concert Hall) and also performed in several recitals, among others in Rennes, Paris and surroundings.

In 1996, she was went on her first musical tours through Martinique, Tahiti and Belgium, and she also played in the Gaveau Hall in Paris. In March 1999, Solène won the First Prize in the “Claude Kahn competition”, then she stood out at the “International Liszt Festival in Munster” and got the gold medal in the Boulogne-Billancourt National Academy.

In 2000, Solène got a first Prize at the “Sucy-en-Brie competition”, a first medal in the “Claude Kahn four hands competition”, the honorary prize at the “Royaume de la Musique competition” and the first prize (with one consent) at the ” Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche competition”. She has also been the recipient of various international prizes : in Germany (French-German competition) and Italy (Premio Gramsci competition).

In the beginning of 2001, she got many prizes including prizes in the “Wurmser”, “Vulaines” and “French-Chinese” competitions. These awards are a reflection on the time and skill that Solène has spent mastering her skills, working under the guidance of such great names as Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Aldo Ciccolini, Béchara El Khoury , Bertrand Ott, Anne Queffelec, Boaz Sharon, Einar Steen-Nokleberg, Claude Helffer, Marie-Françoise Bucquet, Leslie Howard, Evgeny Moguilevsky, Claude Kahn.

In the modern era, it’s unsettling to think that classical music might be a dying genre. However, it’s Pianists like Solène who are thankfully here to prove us wrong. If you want good classical music produced in the modern era, you just have to go looking, and you’ll find it. We’re honoured that she’s signed on with us, and that we can point to her as a living example of classical music still yet living.

If you’re in the mood to relax with some masterful piano, and maybe feel profound stirrings of emotion along the way, Solène is the artist for you!
