Rosa Diaz Signs With Blue Pie!
21 Oct 2011

Blue Pie records is thrilled to announce that Rosa Diaz has signed with Blue Pie! We are over the moon to have this amazing artist on the label.

Rosa Diaz’s music could be classified as folk or indie, but the truth of her style resists labels. It features elements of indie, folk, pop, and Latin genres, and ranges from soaring harmonies reminiscent of church choirs to subtle sighs and passionate, caressing notes. Her sultry, intimate style evokes a feeling of her native Puerto Rico. The fact that she is unafraid to visit darker topics and her deeply present performance style is suggestive of an upbringing in Philadelphia, her home since arriving in the United States with her family as a child.

Her first collection of songs, ‘Lullabies for Those At War,’ was released in September of 2010 and features the song “Lullaby for a Suicide Bomber.” It’s a song she penned after watching a public television special on the recruitment of children by Jihadists in Pakistan. Her music also recently appeared in the short film “Serafina Slow Burn” at the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival.

Be on the lookout for the release of her upcoming second collection, ‘Whim,’ which will feature more light-hearted, folk-oriented material and some songs in her native tongue, Spanish. In the meantime, she can be found co-hosting an open-mic-night every Wednesday night fat the Wired Beans Café in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia.

Rosa Diaz is distributed worldwide by Blue Pie Records and is proud to be a part of the Deadfish Media Group artist collective.
