Tekno grooves to the Reggae beats with The Jamaica Band and reimagination of his Afrobeats Classics. One Love for TEKNO from Jamaica !
16 Aug 2026

Afrobeats superstar TEKNO is heading into new musical territory as The Jamaica Band reimagines some of his biggest Afrobeats classics through the rhythms, basslines and unmistakable spirit of reggae.

The result is an ambitious new collection that brings together two of the world’s most influential contemporary music cultures — Africa and the Caribbean — through Afrobeats, reggae and modern global production. The project features reggae-infused reimaginings of TEKNO fan favourites including “Anything,” “Where,” “Kata,” “Rara,” “Choko,” “Holiday,” “Skeletun,” “Samantha” and “Woman,” with the wider project encompassing 10 new reggae-infused mixes from TEKNO’s hit catalogue.

These are not simply remixes with a reggae beat added.

Each song has been carefully reconstructed by The Jamaica Band and the Blue Pie Records production team, introducing deep reggae basslines, Caribbean grooves, live musical influences and contemporary EDM and pop production while protecting the melodies, hooks and unmistakable character that made the original TEKNO recordings connect with millions of fans.

A Vision Connecting Africa and Jamaica
The project grew from the shared vision of Damien Reilly and Mr. John Peace of TEKNO’s management, who saw an opportunity to take TEKNO’s extraordinary catalogue into another major global music culture while simultaneously introducing The Jamaica Band to one of the world’s largest Afrobeats audiences.
That vision became a major production undertaking.

The tracks spent approximately three months cooking in the production environment, being developed, refined and shaped through the Blue Pie Records studios under the careful production management of Damien Reilly and the Blue Pie Records team.

Every track was approached individually.

The objective was never to simply change the genre. It was to find the musical DNA shared by Afrobeats and reggae and build something new around it.

The result is a collection bursting with rhythm, melody, bass and energy — while remaining unmistakably TEKNO.

The response from everyone close to the project has been extraordinary. TEKNO loves the mixes, his management loves the mixes, and the production team believes the collection contains the ingredients to connect with audiences well beyond the traditional boundaries of either Afrobeats or reggae.

Now it is time for the fans to decide.

Two Global Music Cultures Meet
There is a natural connection between Afrobeats and reggae. Both musical cultures were built around rhythm, movement, storytelling, community and powerful bass-driven production. Both began with strong regional identities before becoming worldwide cultural forces.

This project celebrates that connection.

TEKNO’s catalogue has already travelled around the world. These new versions now provide another pathway for those songs to reach reggae listeners, Caribbean audiences, DJs, playlist curators and music fans who may be discovering TEKNO’s music for the first time.

At the same time, the collaboration represents an enormous opportunity for The Jamaica Band.

Working with one of Africa’s most recognised contemporary artists places the band directly at the intersection of reggae, Afrobeats, dance and global pop music — potentially introducing its sound to millions of new listeners.

The ambition is significant: to help propel The Jamaica Band toward the forefront of the contemporary international reggae market while taking TEKNO deeper into reggae and Caribbean music audiences than ever before.

It is Africa meeting Jamaica.

Afrobeats meets reggae. Lagos meets Kingston.

And everybody is invited to the party.

A New Life for a Global Catalogue
TEKNO has spent the past decade building a catalogue with enormous international reach, generating more than 2 billion streams on Spotify alone and growing rapidly, alongside an extraordinary global social audience of approximately 26 million followers.

That audience spans Africa, Europe, North America, Asia, Latin America and beyond.

The Reggae Infused project demonstrates another dimension of what can be achieved with a great catalogue: iconic songs can evolve, cross cultures and connect with entirely new generations of listeners without losing the qualities that made the originals successful.

In today’s streaming economy, musical borders are disappearing rapidly.

Afrobeats has become one of the great global music success stories of the past decade, while reggae remains one of the most culturally influential genres ever created.

Bringing those worlds together creates an exciting new space for discovery.

DJ Central Records, Blue Pie Records USA, ORDIOR and The Jamaica Band are proud to celebrate TEKNO’s extraordinary catalogue through this ambitious international project and look forward to the reaction from reggae and Afrobeats fans around the world.

There is much more to come.
