Picture your childhood. Perhaps you remember going to the pictures and seeing some old cartoons between the news reels. Or perhaps a parent or grandparent showed you some classic cartoons on VHS collections or online. Generations new and old have connected with old school cartoons, whether they’re black and white such as with Felix the Cat, or perhaps more modern things like Looney Tunes. There are countless vintage examples of these timeless creations, and if they ever touched your heart, we have good news for you: The Great Film Archives has restored a whole host of great cartoons just like these, and they’re now ready for beat making and sampling! Especially when it concerns their soundtracks, which you can find in-full on TGFA’s website!
You may have heard some modern music on sites such as Soundcloud sampling old cartoons and other such similar media, so we’re certain that such creators are going to have a field day sampling some of this fresh vintage content, especially considering that it is now remastered and sounding clearer than ever! With Planet Blue Pictures as the global distribution partner of TGFA, the media of the collection is sure to be more accessible online than it ever has been before, whether it be audio or visual! And with Ordior as the partner of TGFA too, we can rest assured that the rights of the content within TGFA’s catalogue will be protected and managed properly. With Ordior working alongside Planet Blue, it’s a guarantee that any lost royalties will be delivered to the rights holders, and that the appropriate measures for managing cyber distribution will be taken readily and eagerly.
But is there more info on The Great Film Archives itself? You bet, and you can read about it on the official website! But if you need a quick lowdown, we have you covered.
“Something old is new again”, as the saying goes. The Great Film Archives brings together an incredible team of film, TV, media and music creatives, producers, film makers and technical resources to bring to life some of the worlds most iconic cartoons, films and TV shows from the early part of the last century.
Using some of the latest restoration software, coupled with a team that are passionate about bringing to life some of this incredible artwork, the team are busy working away and creating new and vastly improved content for the world to discover and enjoy again.
The company started during the early stages of the Covid 19 pandemic. Founded by Damien Reilly, the company and most of the staff are based in Australia in the town of Moss Vale NSW, and are close partners with Blue Pie Records, Ordior, and Planet Blue Pictures.
The Great Film Archives restoration team works tirelessly, driven by passion and the love that was once flowing through these great works of art, to breathe new digital life into the soundtracks, audio, and film images.
The process is time-consuming, but when you love what you are doing the rewards are worth the wait. The gold is always in the details and we hope that you will grow to appreciate the media that they restore from a bygone era, and discover what the fuss was all about back in the early part of the 20th Century.
