We shall jam on the beaches, we shall rock on the landing grounds! Running Blue's DREAM WAR MOVIES!
23 / 11 / 2021

Last time we checked in on Running Blue, they were lighting up Spotify with two single remasters, Grey Day and Daniel! Now, today’s track is sure to hit you like a bombshell. With well over 1000 plays in just a few short weeks, Running Blue’s new single DREAM WAR MOVIES is storming the internet and taking on all kinds of new territory!

It’s a melancholy track, yet upbeat, as we’ve come to expect from Running Blue. The atmosphere as the song opens is palpable, and the lyrics cut deeper than shrapnel.

LYRICS:

VERSE 1:
Dream war movies on the screen.
Fighting their way across my dreams.
Change the picture I can’t see me.
There’s a gun held in my hand.
I’m gonna kill a thousand men.

CHORUS:
Oh Baby all I see is black.
Oh Baby it’s a dream war attack.
Oh Baby please please take me back.
Oh Baby all I see is black.

VERSE 2:
I’m the pilot, I’m ready for the flight.
I’m the pilot, I’m ready for the fight.
I strapped myself in, I talk to God.
I play with their lives but what to do I care.
Cause I’m gonna kill a thousand men.

CHORUS:
Oh Baby all I see is black.
Oh Baby it’s a dream war attack.
Oh Baby please please take me back.
Oh Baby all I see is black.

VERSE 3:
I was frightened, I talked to no-one.
I hid from myself and I began to run.
This image came through all covered in red.
I fell, I’m hit, God how I bled.
But I still killed a thousand men.

CHORUS:
Oh Baby all I see is black.
Oh Baby it’s a dream war attack.
Oh Baby please please take me back.
Oh Baby all I see is black.

OUTRO:
Oh Baby all I see is black.
Oh Baby it’s a dream war attack.
Oh Baby please please take me back.
Oh Baby all I see is black.

Oh Baby it’s a dream war attack.
Oh Baby please please take me back.
Oh Baby all I see is black.

The track has a hell of a beat, and you can tell it has something to say about violence, fantasies, flashbacks and human nature – an examination of “armchair violence” and the safety of the screen, if you will. So whether you’re in this to hear a ripper of a tune or if you want to think over themes and ideas, this track has you covered up and down! Like any good war movie, it helps to just let yourself go and appreciate the distance you as the viewer have from the conflict, and like any dream, it’s good to get lost in the vibes and let your head nod along. As ever, Running Blue’s music is a throwback for the golden 80s oldies, forever young through their rebellious and catchy music! Dream War Movies is a good look into the style and aesthetic of the band, one that any long-time fan would be all-too familiar with nowadays!

As we work our way through to 2022, there are new songs in the works for Running Blue – the first of these are Grey Day and Daniel, and now we have Dream War Movies. But beyond that, who knows what else will happen? One thing for sure is that the music will be great, original, and have exceptional vocals from Mr Alan Kennedy and some cool synth pop from Michael O’Grady with Damien Reilly at the production helm. We look forward very much to the future, since the past and present are so promising. Whether you knew the group as The Zilths or Running Blue, there’s plenty of them to go around for whatever flavour you prefer! Between the promise of even more new music, the new website, and some revamped classics, we’re getting all we can out of Running Blue, and we’re loving it!
