Paisley Park

If you like being serenaded in forests, falling in love in dark bedrooms full of fairy-lights, getting lost in the woods and partying with strange creatures this Sydney Epic Indie Folk Band has got a musical score written just for you. With influences ranging from Fleet Foxes, Vincent McMorrow, Sufjan Stevens and many more of the indie world pioneers, Paisley Park has a lot to prove and will be doing so this year between Sydney and Wollongong.

Now signed with Blue Pie Records and featuring on Triple J Unearthed, Paisley Park (Cal Thompson – Vocals, guitar, banjo Ellis Birkby – Drums, vocals Elliot Hitchcock – Bass David Thomas – Electric/acoustic guitar, vocals Taylor Davis โ€“ Piano) is working on the release of their EP which is available for download on their Facebook page.

โ€œBanjos, mandolins, double bass and ambient vocals mix with raucous percussion to bring forth something that quite obviously has roots in the folk scene, but transcends the sometimes-frustrating one-dimensionality of bands aiming to emulate Band of Horses, Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes by incorporating ambience and progressive song structure.โ€ Tunesdays with Cam: Paisley Parkโ€™s โ€˜Grand Canopyโ€™ EP

โ€œIt is the second track; โ€˜Little Bit,โ€™ which crosses into a more emotional, heartfelt and lovelorn sadness, that is the standout here. Like a fleshed-out version of Bon Iver, still tender but with a more full-bodied sound, the gently picked acoustic guitars and stuttering, booming drumbeats under layered vocals and strained yells speak of lost love and heartache.โ€ Radar Illawarra: Introducing Paisley Park
