The pivotal chapter in Dale’s life unfolded in 1971 when Dale’s musically inclined family leased the vast 28,000-acre Clarke Island in the Bass Straits’ Furneaux Group. Becoming the island’s sole inhabitant, Dale found himself immersed in the tranquility of nature, forging a connection between the raw beauty of the earth and his music.
The musical influence of Clarke Island, the tunes of Scott Joplin, and his mother’s classical training, left an indelible mark on Dale’s musical sensibilities. This unique blend of influences inspired him to compose and perform songs that capture the essence of nature.
In 1976, Dale took a significant step by joining his first band, and by 1978, he became an integral part of the Tasmanian band ‘EARSHOT.’ Renowned acts such as ‘MONDO ROCK’ and ‘MISEX’ shared stages with them during their tours of Tasmania. Dale’s musical prowess quickly earned him a global reputation as an expert in chill and down-tempo music.
Today, Dale Nougher lives in Tasmania’s Bell Buoy Beach, where he has found his creative haven amid the inspiring sights and sounds of nature. It is here that he records the melodies of the world around him, incorporating them into his compositions to add an authentic touch that resonates with listeners on a profound level.
Dale’s commitment to producing instrumental music that beautifully fuses the serenity of the natural world with captivating arrangements has led to his collaboration with Blue Pie Records.
