The magical hum of perfectly struck piano keys and beautifully strummed guitar strings is in the air, and that can only mean one thing. We’re talking about JP Ranger today!
Jean-Pierre Ranger was a multifaceted Canadian singer/songwriter. His strengths were his stage presence, rich vocals, melodies, and the conviction and raw energy he delivered to a live audience. His vocal flavours appeal to every mood from romantic bedroom blues to raunchy and thunderous power rock.
JP was an extremely versatile songwriter who can create music in many styles ranging from Rock, R&B, to Pop, Blues and Folk. His lyrics spoke to our times. He balanced his repertoire with cool ballads and fun bluesy songs like his Princess of the Stars. He was a highly versatile songwriter creating music in his own unique “Americana Blues ” style. Around 2004, JP teamed up with four veteran musicians who played Chicago-style Blues, Rock and Jazz. The group explored many styles and eventually, chemistry emerged from this five-piece band. The JP Ranger Band and JP himself were based in Ottawa, Canada.
What makes the JP Ranger Band interesting and cool is the way they could ‘turn on a dime’ and play a heavy Rock piece, and then switch over to an R&B song or another music style, and retain the audience’s attention, while maintaining a cohesive band spirit. The audience also transcends all age groups. The band liked to think there is no such thing as ‘age’.
“You just never know what they’re going to play next, or where they’re going to take you musically. You’re into every moment, and you enjoy each song to the last drop”, one fan wrote of their live shows.
Allow the music to do the talking and immerse yourself in the blend of rock, RnB & Americano that the JP Ranger band offers!
Whether you prefer the instruments to cast some ambience by themselves or hear the vocal skill on display, JP has you covered! There’s an album for each. Caroline/Karoline is our personal favourite! JP has also contributed this very track to the “Dealing With Destiny” soundtrack for Planet Blue Pictures!
Or if Spotify isn’t your kind of deal, check out JP’s topic channel on Youtube for more fantastic music!
