Formed in Mombasa in 1969, Them Mushrooms rose to international fame with their anthem “Jambo Bwana”, a song that became a symbol of Kenyan pride and hospitality around the world. The documentary offers exclusive interviews, archival footage, and behind-the-scenes stories from band leader John Katana Harrison and family members who have carried the torch for over five decades.

The film highlights the band’s influence across Africa and beyond, showcasing their fusion of coastal sounds, Afro-beat, and Swahili rhythms that continue to inspire new generations of artists. It also pays tribute to the group’s humanitarian efforts and their dedication to preserving Kenya’s musical heritage.
