November 2025 | Them Mushrooms release “Jambo Bwana, All The Mixes in One Place”. This new release brings together multiple versions and mixes of their iconic anthem “Jambo Bwana”, now available for streaming and sharing on all leading digital streaming networks on the planet.
The track “Jambo Bwana” was originally released by Them Mushrooms in 1982 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon in East Africa and beyond. The Swahili refrain “hakuna matata” (“no worries”) added to its global recognition. Over the decades, the song has been covered, remixed and repurposed hundreds of times across formats and geographies.
This new release centralises those multiple versions in one coherent collection, giving fans and listeners the chance to explore everything from the original radio edit to extended club mixes, tourist-hotel versions, live recordings and modern remixes. This new release enhances the legacy of the song while making it accessible for contemporary audiences.
As Damien Reilly, CEO of Blue Pie Records USA says:
“Working with the band and have Gabe Rizza work tirelessly to restore and remaster the bands entire archive has now opened up the bands music to a whole new level of fans. We wanted to rebuild the bands archive and show they have more than just a hit song — we set out to build a living archive of ‘Jambo Bwana’, capturing every colour, rhythm, and version in one place. This is about reviving a cultural phenomenon, reimagining it for the new millennium, and carrying the spirit of the band into the music worlds of tomorrow.”
“Jambo Bwana” to this day remains the unofficial; national anthem of Kenya. Them Mushrooms are one of Kenya’s greatest musical exports of the past 4 decades.
