Kay L committed to music with purpose and getting more media love !!!

Wading into high-strung social tensions with an eye to cut through the rhetoric, Kay L drew the attention of Mary Yohannes of the non-profit electronic publication Our Legacy News, when he organized a small nonviolent peaceful in late August of last year.

It began with a score of friends and the intention to perform some spoken word in solidarity with black victims of police brutality. It grew to almost 100 bystanders listening to his lyrics and some heartfelt, thankful feedback by phone and facebook.

It’s always interesting to watch politically active artists, even (or especially) when those artists take sides in divisive issues; they’re in a position to produce compelling messages and statements, able to communicate their perspective in a passionate way, and perhaps engender some increased understanding even to those who might disagree with them.

The Zimbabwe-born, country-hopping artist has performed with the biggest names in rap and hip hop, and is enjoying renewed successes, with recent hits ‘In this Moment’, ‘La La Love’ and an upcoming album, ‘Lost.’ He is on a roller coaster ride now and he is constantly gathering more and more respect from his industry piers.
